ESWC DreamHack Coverage

by devine on June 18th, 2007 at 19:12 CEST

From 16th of June until 19th of June one of the most prestigious and largest gaming events in Sweden will take place. That's right, we are talking about flag DreamHack which will be unfolding before our very eyes but we will not only see the LAN take place but also the third and final ESWC pre-qualifer and the ESWC Qualifier Finals.

The past few weeks have held a series of qualifiers to help secure Swedish teams earn a spot at the ESWC Qualifier Finals which will then enable them to travel to the ESWC Grand Finals in Paris, France from 5th-8th July. There are a total of six teams that have already qualified and you can find them below:

  • flag SK Gaming
  • flag EvilZone
  • flag Fnatic
  • flag Hippopotamus
  • flag esc.Novamania
  • flag Cold As Ice
  • flag Ninjas In Pyjamas
  • flag Begrip

As you can see from the list there are only two names that look familiar, Fnatic and SK Gaming but as mentioned before a third and final pre-qualifier will commence and you will certainly recognise a few more renowned faces. Please look below for the teams participating in the pre-qualifier:

  • flag Ninjas In Pyjamas (HeatoN, walle, miniwalle, Tentpole & face)
  • flag Begrip (JAEGARN, threat, get, GeT_RiGhT & niko)
  • flag Gamepassion (xpozer, ninoze, fuze, flipper & SeuSion)
  • flag Game-Studio (hedemark, freddan, igis, Jumpy & hollie)
  • flag Caffice (rdl, KRABBY, eiNkaz, Silverbane & ninoze)
  • flag Dragonforce (Fangor, mkz, Guggen, The ON & Sommarpojken)
  • flag playme (switch, Jajjamen, tricky, dvz, hybz & fain)
  • flag XPG (xynk, denwin, Cracker, robsix & senze)

The Seeds:

  • 1. flag Ninjas In Pyjamas
  • 2. flag Begrip
  • 3. flag Game-Studio
  • 4. flag Gamepassion
  • 5. flag playme
  • 6. flag XPG
  • 7. flag Dragonforce
  • 8. flag Caffice

Obviously NiP and Begrip are two of the favourites to pass through the qualifying stages but it will be interesting to see if any surprises will pop up as we all know that these kind of events always hold something special.

Please click on ESWC Swedish Pre-Qualifier to the bottom right to find out who's playing who in the first set of matches in both Group A and B.

Fnatic vs Sk-gaming could be a better match, Fnatic would possibly win on a god day.
