Statement by Paddy


I entered this tournament prepared and motivated, with the desire to win. I think it's sad that many of the girls didn't even show up and it's even more disappointing that I didn't get to play the finals. However, it was Sophies choice and as her friend I have to respect that. About the tournament itself, it got dragged a bit too long, but most of the matches were played, I had some exciting games and I am satisfied with my overal performance.

Since my friendship to Paddy is more important to me than this tourney and as I don't want this friendship to suffer under such a contest-situation, I renounce to play the finale-rounds.

I'm pretty straight forward, stubborn a bit and I like to have fun.
My daily activities would be going to school, spending a lot of time with my boyfriend and rest of the time I have left I try to focus on WC3.
I like to play some fun maps, AT and well... 1on1 when I think my nerves can handle it.

My hobbies at the moment are WC3, badminton & painting.

I started after the release of RoC, I saw my brother playing it and liked it right away. However, I only started playing competitive WC3 about 2 years ago.

Since when did you play Warcraft 3 and how did you get into it?
I’ve been playing warcraft for two and a half years since November 2005 when my sister bought it for me as a gift on my birthday. The first time I got into it is when I was invited to my cousin’s home. He had Warcraft 3 so he showed me how to play it. It was my first RTS game so I didn’t understand anything, then I liked it and I wanted to get it.

To be honest, I haven’t played a single game for like one month so it’s hard to say. I’ll probably play some ladder on GGC later on.

My name is Mira Kovac, I’m 17 years old and I go to a grammar school near Düren which is a small unknown town located between Cologne and Aachen, two quite known cities in Germany. Therefore I need to go to school 5 times a week, and as most of the people my age there is actually not much to do about that.. after lessons.
I like meeting my folks and friends and as I’m really into sports, you often find me on basketball- or football courts. To cap the evening nicely, I prefer playing a few ladder games or DotA with some of my online mates. After this I go to bed.

What are your hobbies?
As you can already read above I’m into various sports as football, basketball or volleyball. Furthermore I like going out with my friends or having parties.

Since when did you play Warcraft 3 and how did you get into it?
I’ve been playing wc3 for 2 years now. I started playing it because of my (now ex-) boyfriend who showed me his favorite game.

What is your aim in this tournament?
My personal aim is to get into the top 3.

How have you prepared for this tournament?
After a long time playing only DotA I began to ladder and train 1on1’s against Sl4sH and a few other friends to get into a good state for the tournament.

In my opinion Paddy is a person to watch out for, she seems to be really strong and self-assured in her appearance. The fact she’s trained a lot really gains my respect.

Tournament rules
Maps: Terenas Stand, Twisted Meadow, Turtle Rock, Echo Isle, Gnoll Wood, Secret Valley.
Maps Selection and Map Pick: WCG style - Both players can veto one map, games series will be best of 3 right up till the Grand Finals. A coin toss, done by the admin will decide who picks first. Loser picks the next map.
Admins: Cr1stal, PaisY, Spittie, Noname
Group Stage Details: The group stage will feature 4 girls in a group, round robin style. Player who wins the most places first and if there’s a tie, map score will be taken into account. In case of a tie in map wins, then the players who won the most between the leading players places 1st and so on for the 2nd place too. If there’s a 3 way tie then we will re-game. Top 2 girls of each group make it to the next stage.
Single Elimination Stage Details: All games here are also best of 3, same rules for maps and vetoes, right up to the Grand finals.
General
Platform: GGC or now known as Garena will be the platform used for all games
Contact:All players have to be online in our IRC channel (#fnatic.wc3 @Quakenet) 30 minutes before the tournament starts.

Competition Method : 1 vs. 1
Match Winner: The player who completely destroys the opponent or if the opponent surrenders.
fnatic may install third party program and/or join as an observer for tournament operations purposes, such as verifying match results or gathering match data
Game Settings
Race Selection: Free Choice, Random is allowed. (Players must notify their race selection to the referee before the start of the match. If a player changes the race without referee’s permission, the player may be given a warning or lose by default at the referee’s sole discretion.)
Game Speed: Fastest
After the match is over, the players must save a copy of the replay and submit it to an admin if asked for it. If the replay file is not saved, the player may be given a warning or lose by default at the referee’s sole discretion.

Disconnections
Disconnection: Any disconnection of the connection between match players due to System, Network, PC, and/or Power problems/issues
Intentional Disconnection: Upon judgment by the referee, any offending player will be charged with a loss by forfeit

When any disconnection occurs:

1) If disconnection occurs within 3 minutes of start of match: match restart
2) If disconnection occurs after 3 minutes of start of match:
- If both players agree to a match restart, the match will be restarted.
- If the players cannot reach an agreement, the winner will be determined by a referee after the analysis of the match replay file.
- If the winner can not be decided by analysing the match replay file, the players must agree to a match restart or forfeit the match.
Intentional Use of Game/Program Bugs: A warning at the minimum or loss by default
Intentional use of any program bugs will result in a warning at the minimum or loss by default for the offending player.

Penalty for Unfair Play
Unfair Play
1) Use of any map hack program
2) Intentional disconnection
3) Use of any settings exceeding standard and permitted settings
4) Any unnecessary chatting during the match.
5) If referee decides that external conditions (Press, Team Leader, Player, Spectator, etc) give unfair advantage to a player, the player may be given a warning or lose by default at the referee’s sole discretion.

Upon discovery of any player committing any violations regarded as unfair play, that player will be disqualified from the tournament.
It’s strictly forbidden to let someone else play under the name of an attendee of the tournament and will result in a direct disqualification.
It is not allowed to switch Garena accounts during the tournament.
During the course of any match, the operations staff and/or referee may determine other actions to be unfair play at any time.
These rules are for the fnatic Queen of Warcraft 3 and are subject to modification in the following aspects.
Use of most recent patch/version release of each official game within fnatic’ committee’s own discretion.
In-game settings and required factors necessitated by use of most recent patch version/release
Cheat Protection Program release and/or cheat protection functions.
