Ask Fnatic: f0rest - The Answers

by devine on May 23rd, 2008 at 20:18 CEST

1. Question by flag Cristopher "cizzo" Koch:
"What are you going to do, after your cs career? Do you still want to work with cs players, or in the gaming branch like a manager or something, or are you going to pick a usual job and live a "normal life?"
picture"I can't see myself staying in the scene when I quit Counter-Strike, I will probably study or get a job - depending on the situation."

line

2. Question by flag "CraZyyy" Andre, winner of a Fnatic Everglide Titan:
"How long do u think cs 1.6 will be supported by the "main" companys and don`t you think they will loose their interest in the game because of the bad graphics and will try to focus on other games to advertise their products?"
picture"Guess it depends on which company we are talking about. I'm sure NVIDIA would like to sponsor a game which has good graphics but for example, Pepsi, who just sponsored World Elite - I don't think they care too much about how the game looks and just that the market is big enough which it is at the moment (WC3 and CS), atleast that's what I think."

line

3. Question by flag Simon "bidy" Bidwell:
"You spent two weeks playing point blank in South Korea, do you see this game as a successor to counter strike 1.6?"
picture"This game was a great flick and alot of fun for us - but it lacks so many elements in the game to be able to overcome Counter-Strike - or even come that near."

line

4. Question by flag Nafiz "GeminiRius" Choudhury:
"Considering your one of the most famous players in the CS, an icon even for some, why is it that you basically never are up for interviews (text nor video) nor do you ever write blogs? Don't you care about your fans?"
picture"Because I'm very bad at doing such things and it has somewhat become my trademark not doing it."

line

5. Question by flag Samuel "locKMaster" Lee, winner of a Fnatic T-shirt:
"There's been a string of so called 'scandals' lately about different organisations having problems paying their players, be it the salary of the player or prize money from a competition. Do you think this greatly impedes the progress of eSports being accepted as a true sport?"
picture"I guess it gives a very unserious touch to the scene, not being able to hold on to your end of the bargain (contracts). But I don't feel like it would be less of a sport because of a few organisations failed to pay salary / prize money. There is still a lot of other organisations looking good."

line

6. Question by flag Astral:
"What is the best decision you have made in your life?"
picture"Quitting boxing."

line

7. Question by flag Sandy "bourne", winner of a Fnatic T-shirt:
"What are the secrets to stay calm and relax during big events & tournaments (WCG, ESWC, ESL, etc) where there are a lot of cameras, live spectators, commentators, and maybe anti-fnatic fans boo-ing you?"
picture"This is very different from person to person, but for me, I'm sitting super nervous the whole warmup. However, when the three restarts come in I'm super focused and everything else around me just gets blocked away and I start playing my game."

line

8. Question by flag Luke "Baldrick" Cotton, winner of a Fnatic Everglide Titan:
"With the introduction of fixed-odds eSport betting thanks to XLBet, do you see match-fixing becoming a problem in CS, and rather than bringing eSports to a higher level, that it could actually seriously damage it?"
picture"I don't see it as a problem within Counter-Strike to be honest because it's not at that stage yet where it can be damaged. If it was like a real sport like football or basketball then maybe it would be different and matches would be fixed."

line

9. Question by flag Roald "roychez" van Buuren:
"Do you brag to girls by saying you're in fnatic or the best CS 1.6 player in the world?"
picture"Never quite tried that, haha. I'm a designer!."

line

10. Question by flag Ian "JavaX" Leckey:
"What do you think of the CGS and its affect on the North American cs1.6 scene?"
picture"CGS has had a very bad affect for the American Counter-Strike 1.6 scene, taking away a lot of good players which is negative for the scene, meaning less competition (which I want!) and I guess a lot of spectators would like that too..""

line

11. Question by flag Andrew "adn" Clark:
"Plain and simple. Do you truly believe that electronic sports will become as big as another mainstream sport and provide people with genuine jobs and entertainment?"
picture"Plain and simple: yes."

line

12. Question by flag "xALe":
"How common is it for a top player to use drugs to boost their performance?"
picture"What I know of, it is very, very uncommon."

line

13. Question by flag Andy "Duck3h" Borggreve, winner of a Razer DeathAdder:
Hi, if eSports would ever turn into a mainstream sport (as in being aired a lot on television, like soccer) and CS 1.6 would be discarded due to the "audience" wanting more eye candy, which 1.6 features would you demand to be in the next Counter-Strike?
picture"I would add maps more frequently, maybe boost the graphics a bit, but other than that there isn't much that I would like to change - I'd still like it to be Counter-Strike, right?"

line

14. Question by flag Mattias "sqorer" Skog:
"When you rejected the bid from SK last year, what were the main reasons for that choice?"
picture"The players, the organisation and I've come close to just 'end' it like that."

line

15. Question by flag Peter "N00SEBL33D" Williams:
"As a Swede, do you personally think that social services like universal healthcare, free day care, free university education, and etc. are worth the government taking a large portion of your income?"
picture"I think it's good to some extent but lucky me that I don't have to make anything then!

Who cares of pepsi sponsor.

Comment by se f0rest - 1 yr

Thumbs: +2

well pepsi is a pretty big name in companys, sure the questions was about
"main" which i guess means intel nvidia and such, but pepsi might aswell
end up as a huge sponsor for alot of more teams in the future becoming a main sponsor, they might even be the main sponsor for WE right now
