In what looked to be another dead end for the Fnatic Counter-Strike 1.6 team, the Swede's proved their worth as they visciously fought back from a first-half deposit against local rivals SK Gaming.
The first half on de_train was completely against Fnatic. Having said earlier in the week that "our odds to win are definitely larger in a double elimination bracket or best-of-three format," (Archi) - the boys bounced back in style this statement would be classified as a lie.
SK Gaming, with all their class and experience on the competitive international stage, were described as "clueless" by a community website member in the latter stages of the game, which in infact is not true.
Fnatic had more hunger and desire to win the game due to the underlining fact that, although both teams had already qualified for the main event in San Jose, California, when Fnatic get going nothing stands in there way and inspiring tactics from cArn proved this.
Yes SK dominated the first half, yes SK were the favourites to win. However, team chemistry is a special thing and when you have team mates that have been around you for more than two years both in and out the game you should never be called an underdog.
Having watched the second half behind the players, there was no denying that they deserved the win despite the fact that inevitably people witnessed another flop on the Swede's worst map and nightmare; de_dust2 against Team Roccat.
Fnatic are still one of the main contenders for the first ever title of "Masters of Paris" and will be seeking to further improve their game on Sunday when they face mousesports in what will be another thrilling tale. Only one thing will stop Fnatic and that is de_dust2.
The game was immense, incredible, unbelievable yet frustrating at the same time for anyone that follows the team and maybe now Fnatic can put to bed suggestions and criticisms that a line-up change is desperately in need. Bring on mousesports!
