Introduction:
CEA: Hey can you introduce yourself to us and give some information that no one knows about you?
fnatic.Hafu: My real name is Rumay Wang, but everyone calls me Maymay. My parents and my sister were born in China, but I was born in the US. My first language is actually Mandarin. Though I can't read and write Chinese, I can speak it fluently. I learned English at a very young age, so my accent is barely noticable. I'm 17 years old, and going into my senior year of High School.
CEA: How did you get into computers?
fnatic.Hafu: Both my parents are computer engineers, so we've always had plenty of computers around the house. My parents let me have my own computer in 6th grade, so I've been very lucky for that.
CEA: What attracted your attention to gaming and now pro-gaming?
fnatic.Hafu: In middle school I played Runescape a bit, and got my friend into playing it with me. Later on, going into high school, he asked if I would start playing World of Warcraft with him. I agreed, and quickly got hooked, but never with the intention of going pro. I remember that almost everyone I met would think I would be awful at the game because of my gender. When arenas came out, I wanted to prove otherwise. Eventually, I learned more about other classes through dueling, and strategies through practice. I'd like to think that I got quite good by the end of the first season. Still, pro-gaming was never on my mind. When I transferred to BG9, I became more widely known. It was when the 3v3 arena tournament was announced, that I started being approached by sponsors.
CEA: Which clans have you been part of?
fnatic.Hafu: On Hafu I was in <Love is a Battleground> on Onyxia, <Fignuts>, <Volition>, and <Do Not Disturb Hafu> on Bleeding Hollow, and <Malicious> on Tichondrius, and of course my own: <Orz>.
CEA: Currently in Dynamo*(can they take out Dynamo?)*/Orz/fnatic what makes it so special? Talk about some team dynamics and relationships within the team.
fnatic.Hafu: Rhaegyn and I have been playing with each other for over a year now, starting mid-season one He's always been motivated, dedicated, and rarely makes mistakes. Glick is an incredible player that I've played against since season one, and with starting season three. He's always calm and collected, yet delivers perfect plays which has earned him the title "best warlock in the US". The three of us have played thousands upon thousands of games together which has polished our synergy as a team.
CEA: What according to you has been a funny situation in a LAN event?
fnatic.Hafu: When EG and Duelists played double healer rogue mirrors, the fight lasted forever and a day. At one point, they caught Trance (Brendan), one of the referees of MLG on camera sleeping with his fly open.
CEA: What is your impression of European players? Their manners and skill?
fnatic.Hafu: The only European team that I've met so far is Nihilium. From talking to the team, they seemed well-mannered, and extremely skilled. Their hunter/priest/druid play is unmatched in the US. It's quite impressive that they took second place at a US event.
CEA: What's the hardest part of going from online to LAN?
fnatic.Hafu: For me, I was really nervous. The computers take some time to get used to, and they didn't allow much time for us to practice. I didn't perform well in San Diego, but at Orlando I was a lot more calm, and played a lot better.
CEA: While at LAN, whom do you normally hang out with and why?
fnatic.Hafu:At the two LAN events, we've been mainly hanging out with the team Duelists Going for Gladiator. They're a friendly group as a whole, and we actually 5s with them on live. We also hung out with some of the GotGame crew. Actually, GotGame West and our team went to get dinner together right before our match. People generally are more pleasant in person than they are over the internet.
CEA: A lot of times you have been criticized for your rather defensive play in comparison to your team-mates. What's your response to people when they say such things?
fnatic.Hafu: Actually most of the criticism that I've received from San Diego was that I played too offensively, and I must agree with that. Although there is a time to play offensively in our Warrior/Warlock/Druid setup, most of the setups that we faced required me to play very defensively.
CEA: The Druid class has become somewhat of an 'imbalance' in WoW, should it be balanced, would you considering changing class? Which one would it be?
fnatic.Hafu: Although druids are very dominant in arenas, I've seen every class play viably at LAN. I don't think anymore balancing is needed, as it would throw off the entire game for current teams. I used to play a paladin before the Burning Crusade, so if I were to change classes, I probably would go back to playing a paladin.
CEA: If you didn't have glick and Rhaegyn in your team, whom would you pick as your team-mates and why?
fnatic.Hafu: Mm, this is a hard question to answer. I probably wouldn't pick new teammates because we wouldn't be able to prepare enough to perform well at a LAN. If I absolutely had to, I would pick Azael and Hoodrych. They both have LAN and Warrior/Warlock/Druid experience.
CEA: What is a good setup for newer players to run these days in WoW?
fnatic.Hafu: I think that Warrior/Warlock/Druid is a good setup for newer players. It's very well-rounded, and can adapt to just about any setup.
CEA: In real life whom would you consider to be your role model and why?
fnatic.Hafu:In real life, my mother is my role model. She suffers from Polio, yet she's a strong woman who puts everyone before herself. She's a loving wife, a kind mother, and a responsible daughter who cares for her parents, all the while managing a full time job and a part time job. She graduated from the best college in China, and lived out the American dream.
CEA: Which is your favorite book/magazine?
fnatic.Hafu: My favorite book is The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan.
CEA: Are you fashion conscious? What brands do you invest in?
fnatic.Hafu:I'm a teenager, so naturally I'm fashion conscious. I really love dresses from 344 and Anthropologie, but on a daily basis I wear Abercrombie and Fitch and American Eagle mainly.
CEA: What kind of music do you like listening to? Could you name some of your favorite bands?
fnatic.Hafu: I like a variety of genres. Some of my favorite artists are Muse, Rise Against, Eisley, and BoA Kwon.
CEA: Can you tell us about your past? (your life before choosing to become a gamer?)
fnatic.Hafu:Haha, before I started playing World of Warcraft I was so young! In middle school I was on the track team, and ran the 100 meter dash. I was very girly, and went shopping a lot, wore a lot of make-up, and gossiped about boys a lot. Your typical middle-school girl, really. I never would of thought myself to ever be a professional gamer.
CEA: How hard has it been to become a pro-gamer in WOW?
fnatic.Hafu: For me it's been fairly easy. Being a girl in World of Warcraft has always directed a lot of attention onto me, and being competitive has brought even more. I've been interviewed by many popular gaming websites like SK-Gaming and ArenaJunkies, and Ming likes to create fake gossip about me on his popular blog. All the media attention allowed sponsors to notice me and my team. I'm very lucky for that. Fnatic is an incredible organization, and I'm pleased that they have picked me up. It's thanks to Fnatic, SteelSeries, BestPoker.com, CoolerMaster, and UGame.net that all of this is possible for me.
CEA: What do your parents mean to you? Are they encouraging of your e-sport activites?
fnatic.Hafu: My parents were a bit skeptical at first, but they supported me nevertheless. I appreciate their support, and they watch the live streams when I play. My parents were the first people that I called after I won MLG Orlando, and they were as happy as I was.

Fantastic interview. It also great the admiration and respect you have for your mother. That was very touching. It's good to be honest in life and openly praise people that have made a difference to your life. Well done :)
