ReDeYe: eSports commentator then and now

by bidy on October 17th, 2008 at 21:00 CEST

Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner, is quite possibly the biggest name in eSports shoutcasting. Having worked for GGL, as both a journalist and shoutcaster, Chaloner gained global notoriety casting WCG 2005 amongst others. But you must go all the way back to 2001, to find the start of his successful career.

Playing Unreal Tournament, Paul found his first gaming success playing with frUT as he topped the Clanbase UK Team Deathmatch ladder, in 2001. Since then his rise has been astronomical, winning the Eurocup in 2005 but also winning two different tournaments at i17.

However it was in 2003 that Paul found his true calling, as he started shoutcasting by doing coverage of the UT Nationscup iCTF and from there he progressed to casting the PCZONE Readers challenge, with his first major event being the ESWC Finals in Paris, 2005.

In 2007 Paul started working with Xleague.tv, a satellite channel dedicated to console gaming in the UK, and later that year he became the leading caster for the highly controversial CGS in their inaugural season alongside Jonathon "Fatal1ty" Wendel and Stuart "TosspoT" Saw.

Despite being very busy presenting, Paul still finds time to part-own and run online Broadcasting company, QuadV, one of if not the biggest shoutcasting agencies in the world; and they recently announced that they will be forming part of the casting team at WCG in Cologne 2008.

Simon "bidy" Bidwell had the chance to interview Paul and carry on to the next page to see how it went.
