Everyone was tired of the farmfest era that came with the 6.52 map, 6.55 has been highly anticipated for a while now. Beta testers were working hard for months to bring the community the "perfect map." Now that 6.55 is here, there is one question, "Is it suitable for competitive play?"
6.55b was already released after a few bugs were found. Now it's time to see real competitive play on 6.55. Fnatic will be conducting a few mock drafts just for you! A mock draft is when a player or team pretends they are drafting heroes for real but this is just for experimentation and fun!
Teams will be drafting heroes on the new map, 6.55b. The amount of changes on the new map is overwhelming, enough to entirely change the gameplay and bring out new strategies. The most important changes are all the nerfs on some core carry heroes, terrain changes, the BKB nerf and much more.
The mock drafts will allow the community to see how drafting will change in the future when the new map is implemented into leagues and tournaments. There will also be a small panel of judges present during the draft to discuss which team or player has the better hero selections and why, allowing the community to understand just that much more the logic behind each team's choices.
We will also provide pre-game and post-game statements from both teams participating so you can get an idea of what goes on! After the heroes are drafted the teams will then play out the game. You can catch the game live on GGTV!
The mock draft games will implement FARM4FAME rules, however there is one change, the mode will be -Captains Mode (CM). New heroes are allowed. Good luck to the teams participating and happy drafting!
Round 1: Fnatic vs Pandemic (Saturday at 1 pm Eastern, 19:00 CET)
0:2
Pre game statements:
Fnatic.melen: Fnatic's players are very excited to play in this mockdraft. We will play a new game style. A long time ago we had to forfeit playing against Pandemic, this makes us more excited since Chu is very popular. It will be fun to watch. Hopefully we can get enough time to play two games. We have a secret, RitteR has come up with a new strategy! Good Luck Pandemic!
Pandemic-mO: I'm looking forward to playing this new version, it just seems really fun (FROM TDA's). Only imbalance I see is lycan, and with him banned this should be a good game. PS: hyhy has nothing on my admiral!
Post game statements:
Pandemic-mO: Well in the first game, we kind of knew they wanted to push from the first ban alone(pitlord) then the kotl fp we were sure so we countered with naix (free bkb), enchantress and COCO for his imba ultimate. Second game we wanted to pick meepo to be honest, but they took it first so we just countered it with mass aoe (es,lich). It also felt like there were still 20+ heroes that could have been picked that weren't. Just shows how viable heroes are now.
H2O.Stripez: The first game of the mock draft was... well.. interesting.. although kind of an easy game for Pandemic ! Pandemic players at ESWC USA were known to use .48B strats in a .52E era.. WTF? Now it was there time to shine.
Fnatic firstpicked the new Keeper of the light and went for a pushstrat. SF was solo mid, i assume to nuke waves fast and get easy farm. He was against a solo naix(impressive, desrow) and gave firstblood to a four man gank, giving gold to all assisters and the firstblood to proudmore. They kept basilus on to push the wave.
They had a weak trilane bottom which i did not entirely get.. of Lesh SP KotL Their trilane had close to NO killing potential. With puck solo and enchantress in the sentinel jungle puck and the new enchantress picked up a few early kills aswell as lane control. Not only were they getting less experience from having three heroes down there; they died a few times. Top lane was solo pugna against the new Proudmore and Vengeful spirit. Mo showed an excellent proudmoore throughout the game.
Venge was not top the entire time, and was roaming mid. As the game progressed, TPD were strongly outleveling Fnatic. During the middle of the game, TPD shows the new way of "Team-TP" as i call it. 5 man TP'ing with a glyph to defend the tower. TPD easily crushed any hopes of pushing every time with the Puck coil to keep the enemy in place, and the new proudmoore's ship exploding, stunning them and dealing a whopping amount of damage.
Puck with his aoe and Proudmoore got them below half ATLEAST, naix enchantress and venge did all they could throughout the fights, and picked off the weaker heroes. Fnatic continued to try to push, but TPD won every team fight from mid-game on. With TPD having an amazing early-game aswell as mid-game, with superior late game heroes and gank, they prevailed, with a swift, ez victory.
Why watch this game:
This game had amazing early-mid game fights, with flawless execution from the TPD side. Although it was sort of a stomp.
Now.. on to the second game! a much more.. EVEN game ! Fnatic had NA and invoker top against earthshaker, with chen in the jungle, treant vs templar assasin mid, and meepo WD bottom against Jugg lich. Well, much more even picks this time, with Ritter's famous meepo! This game was close to the finish ! Top lane was interesting to watch, as chen and earthshaker laned. They picked up a double kill for earthshaker early on in the game with a very impressive block by fanatic, and some nice chen play from chu. Chu shows his amazing micro even with his broken finger.
NA picks up a kill or two off chen early game with DD as he's neuting. Nothing much more else went on at top! Middle lane was a snore fest, hardly worth mentioning. Neither of the two were able to kill each other, and it was very difficult for them to gank each other aswell, with Treant's invis, and Layana's refraction. Bottom, was an interesting lane. Jugg and Lich vs Meepo and WD.
The action starts early this game with Jugg being firstblooded due to lich wanting to give him the kill. Funny how that turned out! WD kills jugg, then dies to lich. The lane is pretty even overall, with double kills from both sides. As the game progresses into mid-game fights, TPD is given the slight upperhand when Mo makes a pro chain @ meepo in roshan, and TPD pulls out with aegis and roshan kill. The game changes once again when layana grabs her deso, with Deso blink, she was 3 hittin lich and chen, and doing' massive damage to anyone she could throw her daggers at !
Fnatic relied quite a bit on layana's traps for map control, with only 4 wards at 33 min. TPD ganks better mid game, although meepo still poses a large problem. Fnatic pressures all the lanes, despite getting ganked, which makes it very hard for TPD to push a lane with a teamfight, which i think would be to their favor. A fight at roshan 52 minutes in heavily favors TPD with only TPD's chen dying, and 4 of Fnatic's dying, including making meepo buy out.
TPD also got the third roshan for cheese and aegis, along with mid raxes. With a very nice echo from FANATIC[P] (p.s. i taught fanatic how to play) and a very sucessful teamfight from TPD 5 on 5, what they have been waiting for, meepo dies instantly with no buy out and the game is called! Oh boy that was exciting !
