The Crossfire Challenge 7 is just around the corner, so we here at Fnatic.com have conducted some interviews with several players. The first interview is with Marcus 'odyx' Nilsson.
FnaticMSI has received a high seed, after losing to Team YoYoTech in the CC7 Seeding Tournament. Marcus shares his thoughts on the LAN, the tournament and the preparations of the FnaticMSI Call of Duty 4 team. Enjoy the interview on the next page!
The FnaticMSI CC7 line-up:
After a long period of silence, you have returned with a bang! You have recruited zEnith and instantly won an online cup. Have been practicing in secret, what's the trick?
I really don’t know what the trick is, to be honest. We really don’t play as much as we could. But zenith fits in to the team great. So we didn’t need to make any bigger changes in our way of playing the game. It just came natural.
What has changed with the addition of zEnith? What does he add that rivve didn't do and visa versa.
He’s an all around player and can play any position it seems, he’s playing on rivve’s old positions but has movement more similar to me, a bit more explosive and aggressive. But teamplay wise I’d say it’s about the same as with rivve.

You guys have dominated last year, how hard will it be to continue this in 2010?
There has been a lot of changes within the other top teams whilst we are with almost the same lineup as last year. So I really don’t know what to expect yet. Online results don’t tell much so we’ll just have to see how the competition is at CC7.
I do expect us to stay within the top3 during 2010 though. Hopefully win everything but that’s hard in this game, when it’s so close within the top teams, it all comes down to who has a better day.
How much is the team relying on Stevy his sniping? If he doesn't hit his shots, is the team strong enough to fill this up in another way?
Stevy is ofcourse an important player, he very often gets picks in the beginning of the round with his scope. But he’s also capable of clutching any situation really, the more pressure he has on him, the better he plays it seems.
But we all do have important roles in the team and we’re all capable of turning a round to our favour and we’re all capable of clutching rounds.

What makes FnaticMSI stronger than any other team?
Our teamplay and our capability of staying motivated and adapting our game if we aren’t winning the rounds. Our awesome Steelseries gear, our ability to practice and watch demos at the hotel between games with our MSI laptops.
We play a lot better under pressure than most other teams it seems as well. We´re a completely different team at lan than online. Another thing is that we always have fun together.
In what way did you prepare for this event? A bootcamp, or did you play a lot online?
We’ve been practicing some online, playing the ESH Sapphire cup and some pcw’s. We will practice hard and make some fine tuning on our “tactics†during a bootcamp 2 days before the tournament. We’re leaving to Holland for the bootcamp tomorrow.
Now you have lost to YoYoTech in the CC7 Seeding Tournament and have received a high seed instead of a top seed. Does this bring extra pressure to perform better?
That match had no significance at all. But it does give us a motivation boost to destroy them at lan. Hopefully some teams will underestimate us after that match as well. >:)
Is an online tournament a good way to determine seedings? Or do you prefer the old fashion way by doing it on previous results?
I prefer basing the seeds on previous results. But what can you do.
What is your top 3 prediction, while leaving yourself out?
Hard to guess since its very even between the top teams but if I have to guess I’d say Dignitas, yoyotech, loaded

Who could we expect to cause an upset?
Infinity skills will be fun to see. One of the polish teams could go far as well, don’t know which one.
After the Pandemic and EG have came to Europe and did extremely well at the events, the North American scene has been pretty inactive. Loaded has previously attended an event in Europe but failed to impress, do you think they can do better this time?
It’s a different lineup and I haven’t seen any of the players play except juvenile so. I don’t know what to expect yet. We’ll just have to wait and see!
What do you look forward to most at CC7? Is it being with the team again, the competition, meeting new people?
Seeing the team of course!
Which team would you like to play in the grand final the most? Why?
Loaded, an EU vs US showdown would be awesome.
Any last words?
A Big thanks to the fnatic organistation, MSi, SteelSeries, UGame, Bigfoot networks and Slappa for making our gaming dreams a reality!
