Day 0

I flew out to Atlanta and then Raleigh with my friend Caliber from Seattle. We arrived at around 6 PM, dropped off our stuff at the Sheraton hotel to pick up food and then asked the front desk if there were any PC bangs nearby. The rest of the Fnatic SC2 team got their flights cancelled or delayed, so it was just me and my friend that went to a PC bang called RUagamer. We practiced there for a few hours and were later joined by the Quantic Gaming SC2 roster. I played very well in my practice games, and ended up running into Dignitas Tandongho on the Korean server. I returned to my hotel at around 1 AM to see JF and we just went to sleep afterwards. Duran arrived at the hotel near 3 AM.

Day 1

We all woke up and did our daily stuff before checking in and warming up at MLG (they opened at ~1 PM). The Raleigh Convention Center was pretty sick (I’m extremely biased because there were escalators leading down to the event floor which is so sick @_@!!).

I got a walkover round 1, two players below masters and then coLrsvp in round 4, where I won 2-1 in a close series. I asked rsvp afterwards for his real id because he seems to be a good practice partner :D~~

Rain seemed to be doing well in pool play, getting in with his #6 finish at MLG Anaheim. I don’t remember his results though.

I don’t remember JF’s results though @_@;;!

Day 2

I got to the convention center in the morning to find that I had a main stage match against EGDemuslim, which got me pretty nervous. I didn’t know how I was going to feel playing on main stage. I got used to the feeling after the first game and then we had a very silly game 2 with mass marines vs mass marines. I didn’t feel like the games really represented demuslim’s skill very well (as he would later destroy me 4-0 in the loser bracket) though.

Afterwards I lost 0-2 to complexity’s TriMaster in winners’ round 6. I waited until 9 PM before having my extended series match with Demuslim where I got owned. Despite my efforts to make sure I was okay, I had a sinking feeling in my stomach long before I had my match. I didn’t even feel like I was playing to win against Demuslim, but rather just going through some motions and waiting to lose. After my losses I was very angry and depressed. I quickly 2-0’ed Its Gosu’s Ostojiy in a consolation match and left without saying anything. In retrospect it was very bad mannered and I should apologize.

Day 3

The final day was pretty boring for me. I lost 1-2 to Its Gosu’s HwangSin, a protoss player, in my last consolation match, securing me 30th for the event. Afterwards I just hung around the convention center and watched some games (sadly, I fell asleep in the front row during a game where Bomber reportedly mass manner muled and PF’ed against a zerg – CoCa?). For the most part I hung out with two players from 4Kings and their friends, and talked quite a bit with some fans.

I left MLG with a bitter feeling. Some might say losing to Demuslim is acceptable. Personally, I feel like a progamer should not be 4-0’ed. It is simply a disgrace to get owned so hard regardless of whoever it would be. Going into MLG, I knew that TvT would come up as a problematic matchup for me and I was proven correct. TvP and TvZ in the open bracket are not as troublesome, since there are more skilled Terran players moreso than other races.

Thank you guys for reading and thanks to my sponsors MSI, Steelseries, EIZO and Raidcall for making my trip possible. It’s a great honor to represent these companies with my team and I really appreciate that they are supporting Fnatic and making it possible for our players to travel to events. Thanks <3~~
