I just wanted to write something about our adventures down at the CeBiT expo here in Hannover, Germany. We played two tournaments – one was a sweet victory for us and the other a sad, and surprising (for most people at least), deficit.
We were all very excited coming into CeBiT, because we felt that we had played solid at practice since NGL. Extreme Masters was just plain bad – our trademark aggressive style of play was nowhere to be seen and I guess a lot of disappointed fans wondered what we were doing. After going 1-1-3 in the group, we ended up at the same round difference as SoA, forcing a tiebreaker. We lost that game and the poor play seemed to continue. We went out of Extreme Masters as heavy beforehand favorites and it felt terrible, because we were destined for something better.
I don’t really mind losing when you feel that the other team is playing better than you ever could have, but I promise you, playing your C or D-game and going out makes you feel sick. The CS-scene is very even nowadays; mousesports ended up fourth at NGL a week or so ago and managed to win EM and Alternate, the only top three team from EM playing SEC, ended up fourth in SEC after MYM, emuLate and us. I crossed my fingers for Alternate in EM because they are super nice guys and deserve to win. It will be really exciting to see how the next tournament will end, because a lot of teams are playing great. It surprised me to see eSTRO playing so good, crushing top team after top team. I’m very happy to see them play so good, because they’ve been struggling for a while.
Anyway, we won SEC at least and that feels good. We played pretty bad on nuke in the final, but managed to bounce back on inferno to steal back the gold from the Polish guys in MYM. It was very important for us to play good in SEC and I think we brought back the good ol’ fnatic play.
We will be taking it easy for a while now, because we don’t have any tournaments coming up in the immediate future, but be sure to check out fnatic.com for demos and updates.
Thanks to ESL and SEC for hosting two great tournaments.
Have a nice day,
Harley

Well written Harley,
Things like that happen, at least you were able to focus again only within a few hours of time and played great matches at SEC.
When crossing your fingers for Team Alternate because they are nice guys, what do you personally think about mousesports?
Best of luck in the next tournament you'll attend!

I was watching that SoA games screaming get aggressive. It was strange how you became so passive. I guess there many factors involved , like tirednes etc.
At least you picked up at SEC even though nuke again was a little erratic.
Congratulations on the win. Next up Korea, then ELC then I hope a boot camp for Kode 5.

Congratulations FNATICs! I enjoyed to 'see' you winning against MYM.pl, even if those guys aren't bad too. And yes, I think those guys are cool, but maybe not as cool as Fnatic.cs *gg*

f0rest had had a bad at the group stage imho and dsn aswell. Ins played really well and managed to win most face to face situations. In SEC f0rest showed his old strenght and really shot MYM hard in the faces :D.
I think if fnatic would have had a better day they would have advanced easily over SOA in the group stage and probably win this aswell, but i am very glad to see mousesports on the first place.

congratulations for winning SEC Harley an the other guys.
I thinks the the two key matches on group play that would put you fnatic guys in a good situation coming up to the brackets are fnatic vs. SoA and fnatic vs. mibr. Check it out, mibr wins only the match
against fnatic, and SoA had an unique way of play, in the group play and in the tiebreaker.
unluck for you guys from fnatic, you are practicing so hard, and take
the nerves easy on the tournaments, and that has made the difference,
it really has.
Keep it up Harley.

great job , ESL was a bit unlucky if talking seriously. You were leading 14-9 it came to 15-15. 1 more round in any game and u will get ESL title for sure and SEC was awesome comeback. You showed that fnatic is still best team in da worLd! <3 dsn@awp

dsn, ni borde snacka med Sam å få G7 att pilla fram en ny map
Det behövs nya banor och det krävs att nån med mycket auktoritet promotar den för att folk ska spela den

As far as i understand he said that sam [you] should go to the G7 and propose to use other maps.
Anyone can confirm this?

He sais that he wants G7 get new maps inte the scene.
And I must say that i agree with him, playing the same maps over and over is not very fun.

hey, gr8 job and well done for winning the SEC. but seriously tho, i think u guys lost too many pistol rounds in EM compared to SEC, where in SEC u guys basically took the pistols and owned the opponents over and over again.
but then there are many factors tht affected ur play in EM, as u hv to play three games in a row tht juz lead to tiredness tht affected ur performance maybe. specially there are many thinkin goin on in a match. but howcome? juz wondering, u guys didnt throw as much flashes and smokees in EM as u did in SEC :P
but hey, gd to see u guys recovered in SEC. <3 the last game against MYM, tht juz ...lol fnatic style!
keep it up guys!

Nice win for SEC! I agree about eSTRO too since they've done so bad at past events like ESWC 2007, Seoul E-Stars, etc.

I think the pistol rounds are alot more important now when all the top teams are so even. It looks to me that you don't give the pistol rounds as much importance as maybe most of the other top teams do. What's your opinion on this?

I think we have just "accepted" that pistol rounds are pretty random and thus we have not put down as much time as we maybe should have.
