experiences at the CGS

It all started on a sunny thursday afternoon,

I had mixed feelings going to this event, we all knew what could happen.
We could be split apart after playing together for several years (with some i've been playing longer than with others). None of us really wanted that but also secretly hoping possibly some of us could get in the CGS, because it would definitely be a great experience as a gamer. Especially since all of us we're denied a spot in the CGS in one cruel way or another.

So we headed to Calais, France first to take the boat to dover after which we would head to the fnatic office located in Southampton. It was about a 4 hour trip to Calais. Me, AirRaid and Blaze shared the car this time and darky picked xertion up at his house.

We arrived around midnight in Southampton at what time darky, our personal party animal, came with the brilliant idea to go into town and get a few beers.
And so we did.

We headed to a vodka bar which was within a mere 15 minute walk of the office, we had a few beers and me and Blaze decided to drink a couple of vodka shots and get completely pissed out of our faces, in which especially I myself succeeded in with the greatest of ease. After a few hours we decided to head back. My team had the fortune of just being able to jump out of the way when i decided to vomit right in front of the bar :-D. Which was nice for them.

The next day i woke up with a bit of a headache, but fortunately a couple of asperines did the trick. So we headed to Birmingham to kick off our CGS experience!

When we arrived in Birmingham we decided to drop of our stuff at the hotel first, which was a really nice Holiday Inn hotel. Then we went to the Omega Sector and signed up for the event. That night we decided to tuck in reasonably early since we had to get up early to attend the tournament at 9.

When we arrived something happened that always happens at LANs, we had to wait. At 12 the introduction started, which included the explanation of the house rules and the tournament brackets. Not much later the tournament started and we started by playing club:Ai

We were pretty confident for our match versus Club:Ai, it was only 2 or 3 days before they struggled getting any rounds against us in pcw's. And we went on to take that match without much troubles. Stockholm Magnetik was next.

We knew they weren't invincible, we had played them several times in the weeks prior to the event and came out on top most of the time, as we did in the quarter finals of this CGS tournament.

Berlin Allianz' GM then decided he would like to see us play speaking english, suddenly we felt that the GM's might actually be interested in drafting a few of us. Which really didn't excite us that much. We knew that we were gonna get split up after this event.
Not unexpectedly we lost to London Mint in the challenge match, and not because we had to speak English, but mostly because they were just the better team at that point. Neither Mint or us were very happy with bsl having us play that match because we had to play Mint in the semi's the morning after. But we went ahead and played anyway of course :)

That night i was pretty tense because i was almost positive the next day wasn't gonna make a lot of people happy, and probably not me either. I felt like i didn't play my A-game and i didn't have a likely shot of getting drafted, and i didn't spend much quality time with bsl to get to know him either. I knew my only shot was just to play the best i could the next day.

The match versus Mint was scheduled for 10am, we started reasonably in time which was nice. We came out on top after a tough game. I really played the best i've played in ages in that match and it paid off in a nice victory, next up was Salvo
We knew they were the team to beat in this event, performing really well the last couple of months. Unfortunately we got beat in 2 maps but we were pretty pleased with our performance, as was I with my own performance in those particular matches. I thought there might be some hope for me to get drafted yet!

Then the draft started, probably the most nerve wrecking hour i've been in for a long time. After bsl picked 3 of the old Allianz players i knew this was it. One of us would be picked. First up was Blaze which wasn't a great surprise, hes a very good player and a great guy. The last pick was gonna be do or die for the 4 of us. xertion was the lucky one for the last pick.

I felt gutted, since i was really playing well the last day and i got a lot of positive feedback about how i was playing on sunday and that i was sure to get drafted, of course i wasn't sure but theres no harm in hoping for it.

Me, AirRaid and darky spent most of the day really kind of laughing it off, we all felt bad about it but hey the three of us were in the same boat and there wasn't a lot of point in crying about it. :) So we headed back to Southampton, now me and AirRaid had to find a way back home since we drove there in Blazes car. Darky was gonna stay in Southampton to do some work for fnatic for the next month or 2. Luckily Sam 'zr0' Matthews was willing to pay for our flights and we headed back tuesday very early in the morning.

Now i find myself back home, not really knowing what to do about my gaming career, maybe out there there are 2 players that could fit it. Who knows :)

I'll be investing my time in stuff i didn't do a lot of lately, such as sports. Also u can find me at the pokertables online :-)
And of course good luck to my good friends xertion and Blaze in the CGS, go kick some ass!

Cu out there!

Something tells me that you will get your chance. First see if majk can keep up with the rest of the team, else you would be the perfect addition to raise the bar for the new allianz team! It ain't over till the season starts!

Unlucky Proph, some seriously sick play during the combine. Hope you keep playing css and continue to run fnatic along with the others (hit me up *cough* :P).

If there's gonna be new franchises next season I'm pretty sure people won't be able to deny you a spot (although I pretty much thought that for the last 2 seasons aswell :P).

Anyways GL HF :P
