My career started up 5 years ago as I followed what my brother into Baseball. He was playing for the Hilversum Hurricanes and I used to watch him train and the coach asked me if I wanted to join them to practice for fun.
When the season ended, the coach asked me if I was interested in becoming a part of their team. I was playing Soccer by that time but I decided to try it out but soccer was still my main focus since I was much better at it.
On Saturday I always had soccer first and wore my self out and then I had to race to my baseball game to pickup half way through the game.
But with each game Baseball attracted me more and more and after 2 seasons of doing both I chose Baseball over Soccer. I was only playing 3rd or 4th division but it was really fun with all my teammates and that season we became champions after a couple of exciting matches against or "rival" called Zuidvogels.
The season after that I had to go to another age level but great fully my team moved up as well.

That season we had another coach called Rudy which is a guy from Aruba. He is really funny but also wants to win which has lead 2 times into a little fight between him and I. But besides that we played first division and we placed 4th.

Last season we played on a national level and because of a major mistake we ended up 4th after losing against the last place team which cost us 2 points which made us too short to advance to the playoffs.



The current season I'm play on another age level which is called juniors. I then moved to another team in Utrech called EBS, which is short for European Baseball School.

I was always busy thinking, "aaaawh there is a scout" ( If I saw many scouts ) and I just froze and couldn't perform my best. So I ended up not getting picked up by a scout. But this season was different, if I saw a scout I just didn't care and I just played my game. I gave up hope for the national team but just had fun with my club team.
But than on Sunday 08 April I got a total shock. While we had a tournament I reached first base. The first base coach told me that he wanted to speak with me and my parents after the game. The next inning I was in the field and just couldn't focus, "damn what does he want? did i do something wrong?".

After we won the game my parents, my coach (Bill Froberg) and I sat down in a peaceful corner and than he said the words, "You got scouted and me and another coach proposed you for the national team, but we don't know if there is a spot for you.". I was just flabbergasted and didn't know what to think. I just smiled and was really happy.

This morning around 09:30 CET I was called by the coach of the national team for my age(15-16). I was shaking while I had the phone in my hands. He told me he wanted me to do a try-out training the upcoming Monday and if I would please come for half an hour before practice so he could have a little talk with me. I agreed and was full of happiness! Damn I finally made it!

I probably wont advance to the real national team because the level is so high and I dont know if I can compete on that level but I will give 110% and than we will see what happens.

What I want to say with this blog is, just be yourself and believe in your goals even if the luck is not on youre side. And finnaly you will reach the goals you first only could dream of.
