I can't give the examples of all the girls playing, but as far as i'm not only keen on writing articles/blogs I used to play many games, though not on a competitive level. My friends mostly engaged me in gaming. I couldn't understand why they were keen on playing - they said it was their hobby! Once i had an experience of going to a computer club (we don't have the so-called net-cafes), because my boyfriend made me come with him. I was very interested but i didn't know what to do. My bf logged on Counter-stike for me and explained the simple rules...
Right...my first experience was quite AWFUL. I didn't know how to move but i could craw well and even shot!!! So, i was standing at maps like: doomvilla, militia, d_day, aztec, dust at the base and was trying to kill enemies who came to search who was the last to stay alive :) I was trying to hide behind the boxes and yeah...my favourite map was TOILET wars. Of course people who played with me were my friends or acquaintances and they (I guess) had a great satisfaction while following me everywhere and chasing with a knife (haha).
The next step to my high degree of Counter-strike player was called ... 'moving abilities'... I was doing well, though i wasn't able to do both shotting and jumping...*NOOB*, *EASY FRAG* called me people in team. Did i care? - actually, NO. But the title *DEAD* was pretty damn...irritating, you know? :)
Afterwards I had the only desire to show off and to succeed in playing...
I started to make frags and even defuse the bombs... But still my friends sitting nearby helped me with buying weapon. I can still remember B-4-6 my favourite - Arctica :D That's how my career of a 'gamer' started, huh.
Later i was really interested in the process of gaming, i experienced new games: half life and other custom games. But my friends brought more new games and i had to start from the ground level in strategies! That was Warcraft 2, Starcraft...I was like 'omg', so many units (especially zerg race huhu)...where to go!? What to do!? These were obviously the other games. Prrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Then, here we go...Warcraft 3 appeared. I tried to get used to an enormous number of changes...
Unbelievable... It was so difficult to decide if i'm going to stop playing or not... By the way i can still remember how i was choosing a race... Human? Too boring, orc? Too ugly, undead? Huh? I dislike dead ones...right as practically any girl i chose elf...
Soon many custom games appeared: lots of tower defence, hero arena, line wars, footies. That was funny indeed. So that's the way I got to dota! But beforehand I used to play a lot of corridors FBFT 5.91. These days, though I can't totally get used to heroes in 'Defence of the Ancients', because they are the same with ladder ones but with a great variety of spells, i'm still doing fine.
My gaming career isn't over and i'm looking forward to playing and, moreover, experiencing new games. Starcraft 2 please.
