Gaming in the future

Since 1998 I play FPS games all the time. It all started with HLDM (better known as AG -> Adrenaline gamer) and years later it ended with Counter-strike.

In these almost 9 years I met a lot of people. People which play for their fun and people which play to become a professional gamer. Even they weren't so much motivated as I was it happened more then a few times that those players became famous and for now still growing.

This tells you that electronic-sports is more then just playing games. As the name already says, it's a sport. I can remember a time that when I was talking about my hobby's and lust for gaming they all the time replied with "dude, that's for nerds!", "why are you spending so much time in playing games?". But months/years later they also started with playing games like fanatic geeks.

Now days we discuss about how it will be in the future. Since company's spending and investing so much time and money in electronic-sports, it really has to be success in the future.

I can remember an article about the marketing of electronic-Sports. I don't know who it wrote and were it was posted but it was enough for me to realize that we are not talking about just some games anymore. Look at the follow statics:

Overall statics marketing e-Sports - World wide gaming marketing: 55 billion euro (55000000000.00 €) USA - Cinema: 8,7 billion dollar - Gaming: 17 billion dollar

Don't forget that these statics are from maybe 1 or more years ago. It's a fact that both sides still growing and maybe the world wide gaming marketing already reached the 75 billion euro.

I can't predict the future but maybe there are people around the fnatic community who can.
