IEM Cologne - Oz in Open Bracket

Oz dropped out of the tournament after being knocked to the lower bracket by TargA and then lost his final chance to Grubby in a PvP series.

Intel Extreme Masters is in its seventh season and the first Global Challenge event will be at gamescom 2012 in Cologne. The tournament, taking place August 15-19, will feature an incredible player pool and sweet prize money in addition to the prestige of doing well at a world class event. There were 16 players that qualified through regional qualifiying tournaments, and to that number will be added 8 players advancing from the Open Bracket. FnaticRaidCall is sending its Protoss star FnaticRC.Oz to Germany to fight through the Open Bracket and into the Group Stage.

Tournament Format

The qualified players are already in pools for the Group Stage, but there are two spots open in each group. Those spots will be filled by players coming from the Open Bracket. There are four brackets, each with its own Loser's Bracket. Whichever players end up in the finals of their Open Bracket will be placed into the Group Stage.

After the Open Brackets have finished and the 8 players are placed into the Group Stage, there will be 4 pools of 6 players each. The top 3 players of each pool will be advancing to the Playoff Bracket. The winner of each group will be seeded directly into the Round of 8, while the other advancing players will have to fight each other in the Round of 12. Unlike the Open Bracket, the Playoffs will be a Single-Elimination format.
