The Korean pro gamer Seo Yong "Rain" Park last month announced that he was leaving team TSL to participate in foreign tournaments and events. Today, we are proud to announce this outstanding young Terran player as the newest addition to the FnaticMSI Starcraft II team!
Rain is one of the most accomplished Korean pro gamers, taking 2nd place in the 3rd season of the GSL Open. He dropped out of Code S, but this past season took down Startale's RainbOw to win his Up-and-down matches and re-qualify for Code S. However, in an unprecedented move, Rain announced that he was leaving team TSL and forfeitting his GSL spot in order to focus on foreign tournaments.
To accompany this move, Rain will be moving to the United States to live and practice. Currently, Rain is participating in the NASL Qualification tournament, where is is Top 8 after the first three days of play, earning a spot in the 2nd season of the North American Star League.
Below is a statement from Rain himself about hopping on board with FnaticMSI:
“I am extremely excited and content upon joining team Fnatic and interacting with the current team members because I have always possessed great interest in the international Starcraft 2 community. Fnatic is a team with strong players in each race- for instance Fenix for Terran, Sen for Zerg, and TT1 for Protoss. I think it will be a good experience for me to have such stellar players as teammates and consider myself lucky to receive such an opportunity. Also, I will always put as much effort as possible so that I can perform well to not let both my fans and Fnatic’s fans disappointed.”
Below is a statement from Elroy Pinto, FnaticMSI's General Manager:
With Rain joining us I believe this is a new era in Professional Gaming. StarCraft II is a global eSport and Rain joining us further solidifies the value of the game. Rain expressed his desire to join us and after negotiations we are pleased to have him on board. He has been playing with the rest of the team and will continue to do so and take our StarCraft 2 team to greater heights. This would not have been possible without our sponsors MSI, SteelSeries, EIZO, BigFoot Networks & RaidCall.
And finally, a statement from team manager Duran Parsi:
Rain is an incredibly talented player and we believe he has great potential. I'm very happy to have such a player on the team and I know that he will add valuable knowledge, motivation, and dedication to our already strong team. We look forward to having him represent us in clan leagues, LAN events, and of course, team practices! Welcome Seo Yong!
We hope that this is the beginning of a long successful journey for Rain, and expect many great things from the young Korean Terran!
