SOOO.. I've been meaning to go to bed for absolutely ages people!! But now i'm completely hooked on the Starcraft 2 Single player (I know, I know total noob). I've been playing it literally over and over after work each day and its pretty fun. I love the way you can chose which armour upgrades to, which research items to gain etc. I'm playing the SP because I've never played a BLIZZARD RTS!! Except well Diablo, but I dont think thats an RTS right? I needed to learn all the units, and I think noob campaigns are always a good way to slowly improve as you learn the benefits of each Unite and what they do.
I really like the storyline though, the constant videos and dialogue and the ability to keep going and chatting to people is awesome, I even tried to force my GF through it.. she's never been into anything but mario.. was fun watching her trying to go off map all the time.. "oooh that place looks interesting, lets explore". I can really see why the Sim is so popular after watching her trying to do the SC2 tutorials.. they dont care about gameplay, they just want to explore!
Anyway, once I get through the campaigns, or atleast until im bored and i feel I have got the hang of it.. I'm definitely going to start watching a few replays I think! Its the best way to learn and I think theres already plenty of Gosu's (haha) out there already rocking there replays onto various sites. My friend and hopefully soon to be business partner runs one of the most popular Starcraft 2 Replays sites on the internet right now (also called Sc2 Replays, well one of the most popular Game Replays site of all time as well, called GameReplays.org. Its been really fun seeing the amount of people entering that site absolutely sky rocket in the last days, even the forums called the "StarCraft 2 Forums" (DUh!) have been going manic. I love being a geek again haha.. been a long time since I learnt a completely new game.. even though CoD:MW2 was fun.. it was still a bit like all the other FPS games, and wasn't really that challenging. I've been reading some of the good guides that they have on the StarCraft 2 part of the site and its pretty good.
I don't really know how long this phase will last.. who knows, I'm still crazy for my QuakeLive CTF pickup, so I don't think anything is going to replace that anytime soon! But never the less.. Its great to be a noooob gamer one more time.. (or all the time?)
P.s. Patrik arrived back into the flat today! Great to see my swede friend and flat mate.. its insane the amount that professional gamers travel in the summer months, seriously!! Crazy flight miles they must rack up, off at least every 2 weeks. That probably explains the HEFTY 18,000 pound amex bill we had in the last month paying for travel and accomodation.. argh the expensive world of ESPORTS. (Thought I might drop a little tidbit of data in there, you see what teams have to struggle with to stay afloat!)
The SP is absolutely awesome. I recommend you to play the mini-campaign too! You'll learn a lot about the next expansion Heart of the Swarm
P.S one tip, in the SP bunkers shoot even when empty, in multi - they don't. Remember this because it's funny when someone makes http://strangera.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/sc2_wtfmoment_v01.jpg this ;P
I'm an FPS gamer, but gave into the hype and got SC2 a few days ago.. Slowly going through the SP campaign, learning the units, gameplay, etc.. have to admit it's lots of fun and the game is so well made imo..
Perhaps we can have a 1v1 noob match at some point ? :p
The SP is epic indeedo.. but I feel ashamed when I play MP with my m8s again.. years ago since I even touched BW.. Practice and time will tell if it's worth the serious thought. :)
