Dota 2 players have been treated to a massive update with the 7.00 patch. The New Journey has officially begun and it has brought major change to the game. To read about all the changes in Patch 7.00 check out the official update page here.
The HUD has gone through a makeover with a plethora of new options available to players. The Hero Control panel now sports a one-click level up feature, allowing players to easily level up in the middle of the most chaotic fights. Hero talents have also been added allowing you to unlock a bonus at level 10, 15, 20 and 25. Players now also have access to a backpack allowing them to carry an additional 3 items which will assist them in getting the perfect build, completing recipes and more!
One of the biggest changes has been the map update. Roshan has been moved to the top of the map, he has also gained a few buffs to his attack range, armour and armor gain. Valve have also added a number of Shrines to the map, giving each team the ability to regenerate without having to travel all the way back to base. The new Shrines can be found near each team’s Secret Shop and new Ancient Camp locations.
Lastly, the biggest change of the patch is the addition of Monkey King! Learn more about the new heroes abilities and lore on the official valve page.
With the introduction of 7.00 we see a massive change to the standard Dota 2 Map. What do you think about the new layout such as Roshan being moved and Bounty runes being moved from the river?
Ohaiyo: Well, I guess it’s a really big change for this patch because there are a lot of things you can do when it comes to the runes. You can use some big plan and play around the bounty rune while it’s going to spawn. Things like smoke and make tempo from that. Rosh is going to be harder to take because of the Shrine, which will make it much easier to reach the Roshan pit.
There is also the addition of hero talents, what do you think about this feature?
Ohaiyo: The talents trees is a new thing that we have to analyze and use wisely because the talents can make the hero have a totally different playstyle, which is good because it gives us access to more strategic ways of playing the game.
The community has a lot of mixed feelings about the hud changes, some preferred the old bulky version and some prefer the new slimmer version. Where do you stand on this debate?
Ohaiyo: It’s nothing special for us because we just know time will fix it. The only thing I don’t feel comfortable with is that you can’t use hotkeys for the shop anymore.
A lot has changed with the new patch. The meta has been shaken up and the game almost feels brand new, what has been your favourite change to the heroes so far?
Ohaiyo: For me right now it’s Zeus because the Scepter can provide you with an extra skill, haha.
Give us your thoughts on the changes to Dark Seer, Nature’s Prophet and Bat Rider?
Ohaiyo: Dark Seer right now is much more tanky if you choose the correct talents (At level 10 12% evasion, at level 15 14hp regen per sec). I haven’t played Nature’s Prophet yet but Batrider is also much improved because of the lane changes and the shrine, which allow you to play a better dual lane while also pressuring the opponent's safelane.
Monkey King has been added to the game! What are your thoughts on the new Hero & have you had a chance to play around with him?
Ohaiyo: I love this hero so much since Chinese people know him so well. Right now, this hero is really fun and imbalanced and I really like playing him (I’m still practicing actually). I also feel like the best position for him is a 3rd/4th position because as a support he’s good at ganking and disables, since he doesn’t need the mana so much. As an offlaner he can also work if he gets some basic items. He can also become a good carry.
