He made this decision a while ago, right after Patrik announced his retirement. Since this decision was not made after Dreamhack, it's even worse to see an amazing player of his calibre leave our team after performing so well.
We wish to thank Rasmus for devoting all his time and dedication into Fnatic, making it the best team in 2009 and continue playing for black-and-orange colors for years to come, despite leaving the team for a while. Rasmus will probably start studying and after he finishes enjoying his time off, he will also play another game which he seems to be really good at. Wonder what that is? Watch part two of our big interview that we conducted with him right after the guys won the Dreamhack CS tournament.
In case you've missed it, here's Part 1:
Our CGO, Patrik "cArn" Sattermon shared the following words:
Rasmus will in my book go down as one of the most successful players, just look at his tournament win ratio and consistent fragging he has pulled off since he joined our team in 2009. It's no secret that we have had our arguments over the years with Rasmus which led to him joining and re-joining a few times. However, I think especially lately I have bonded really well with Rasmus so it's of course sad to see him stop playing, but I'm proud that he is ending his professional CS1.6 career in Fnatic, and doing so on the highest level after a successful campaign at Dreamhack.
With Rasmus' departure, we are now at the ultimate end of the era we started in 2009 and I'm sure we have established ourselves in one of the finest chapters in the history of Counter-Strike. On behalf of the entire Fnatic organization, I want to send my biggest thanks and best wishes to Rasmus - I'm sure you will be successful in whatever you do.
Our Counter-Strike will continue competing in the upcoming CS tournaments and you will hear about the new player next week. But for now - let us all wish Rasmus good luck in his future endeavors.
I attended more than 70 tournaments, 90% of them were international ones. While I was on it, I managed to take more than 150 000 photos, compose 150+ interviews, 200+ articles, 7 000+ news items.
I worked for all major e-sport portals in Russia and...
