PLAY RaidCall SC2 Open Cup - Siw wins

Update - Day 2

21:30: Siw is the champion of PLAY RaidCall SC2 Open Cup #2! He took down ESC.Daisy with 3:2 in the PvP finals. The day started with 2:0 of Daisy's over Tarra, who later on lost against sYz with 0:2 as well. sYz lost in a close encounter to Siw, with 1:2 score, but won the 3rd place afterwards which earned him $100. Siw took $300, while Daisy earned himself $200. This is only the second open tournament, and we are planning to do more of these. Update - Day 1

After the first day of PLAY RaidCall SC2 Open Cup #2, only four out of thirty two have reached the semi-finals. Among the participants, there were some scary and respected names in the StarCraft 2 community, such as Cytoplasm, Siw, qxc and more. Thirty two players in an open cup might not appear to be a lot, but even so, these guys showed some great performances and top notch StarCraft 2 skills. At the end of the day, the semi-finals will look like this:

The first semi-finals will be played between Daisy and Tarra. Daisy made an upset, and won against the tournament favorite Cytoplasm. Tarra on the other hand brought down the likes of TriMaster. The match will be played at 18:00 CET tomorrow, on 6th July, with second semi-finals between Siw and sYz following right after. The next edition of the PLAY RaidCall Cup will feature StarCraft 2, and it will be open for everyone who wants to compete. This is the second open StarCraft 2 tournament we are hosting in 2012, and all you have to do is register on our PLAY Fnatic website, and click on the registration link. So far, in 2012, we have hosted four StarCraft 2 tournaments, three of them being Invitationals.

Same as the last time in our PLAY RaidCall Open Cup #1, up to 128 participants will be able to compete for their share of the $600 prize. The winner of the tournament will earn himself the half of it, $300, while the first and second runner-up will get $200 and $100 respectively. So far, in our tournaments, players such as Nerchio, Grubby, Stephano and more showed their presence. This time we hope that even more players will sign up for the tournament, and we expect an interesting competition, all that covered up with shoutcasting by none other than Kevin "Katu" Albert via FnaticTV.  Here is a rundown of all the information you need to know:

Important information

The tournament format will be Best-of-one up until the quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals, semi-finals as well as in the third place decider, matches will be Best-of-three, while the Grand Finals will be played in the Best-of-five format. The first round will be played on the 5th of July at 18:00 CET, and on that day all the rounds up until semi-finals will take place.
