The Summer Assembly 2012 is complete and it was an incredible tournament! FnaticRaidCall's 4 players that were sent competed and Moon took fourth place and a cool $2,500 prize. NightEnD and Naama both made the top 16, barely missing the playoff bracket. Harstem has been invited at the very last minute as a replacement for someone that couldn't make it, and his group was quite hard (it included winner TaeJa) so no shame there. We expect more great results out of our Fnatic players in the coming months!
Moon has a tough group ahead of him - DeMusliM has been known as a top European Terran for quite some time, Welmu has been doing particularly well lately in all sorts of events. Bischu is a replacement for viOLet, and frankly removing the only other Zerg player from the group should be a bonus for us. Moon will probably advance, however, as he is capable of playing at a level entirely above the rest of his pool.

Group 3
Naama's group will be interesting for him. His favourite matchup is Terran vs Protoss, and he'll potentially have several of those games against Seiplo and HuK. StC is a really good Korean, but Naama thinks that Terran vs Terran is his best match up right now. Given his opponents, Naama will have a tough time advancing but will definitely have proven himself if he does.

Group 4
This will be a rough group for Harstem, with Code S level Terran play coming from TaeJa and two top foreign Zerg players in the form of IdrA and Protosser. Fortunately, he will be the only Protoss player in the group and that allows him to focus his training on only two of the match ups. That extra foucs will hopefully be helpful, because advancing from this group is going to be incredibly hard to do. On the other hand, what a great story it would be for the Fnatic Academy player to take down top tier foreign and Korean competition...

Group 8
NightEnD is actually stuck with the toughest group of the FnaticRC players. SaSe has been living in Korea and does incredibly well (MLG Spring Championship) in foreign events, and PuMa is just plain crazy good, and Brat_OK somehow manages to pull off surprising results. NightEnD has a chance to advance, but it'll be incredibly difficult for him.
Tournament Format
The Summer Assembly 2012 will have two group stages with GSL style double elimination groups and a single elimination bracket for the playoffs starting in the Round of 8.
GSL Style Pools: - 32 players divided into pools of 4. - Within the groups, split the players into pairs which play a Best-of-5. - The winners of each pair face each other in a Winner's match and the losers of each pair play in a Loser's match. - The winner of the Winner's match advances. The loser of the Loser's match is out. The player that lost in the Winner's match and the player that won the Loser's match will play. - The winner of that match will take second in the Pool and advance. The loser will be third and is out.
Overview
The ASUS Republic of Gamers is throwing its fourth Starcraft 2 tournament at the Summer Assembly 2012 on August 2nd-4th, with 32 players coming from around the world to compete for a $30,000 prize pool. The players list will be a mix of invited players and those who qualify through online tournaments. Two FnaticRaidCall players have been chosen to come to Finland - NightEnD and Moon. Meanwhile new pick up Naama won the Vectorama, which qualified him for a spot in the Summer Assembly. Finally, new Academy member Harstem was invited as a replacement for a player who couldn't make it.
The list of players that are invited or have qualified is nothing short of fearsome. NightEnD and Moon will face a field of top players from North America, Europe, and Korea. Code S players like HerO and TaeJa are coming, as are top European players like Socke, Kas, and MaNa to name a few. Fnatic's newest player, Naama, has always been known for playing an unorthodox, unique style of Terran and we look forward to seeing him play. Because he won a qualifying tournament, Naama too will be competing for the title. Harstem is a top European Grandmaster and hopefully this will be a chance for him to shine in the spotlight.
The Assembly Winter 2011 was a tournament to remember, with a Polt/Stephano Grand Finals that Polt won in a convincing fashion 4-1. That is the level of play expected from an Assembly event, and the Assembly Summer 2012 is going to be incredible!
The playoffs begin in the Round of 8 and will be single elimination, Best-of-5 matches until the Grand Finals which will be a Best-of-7.
Prize Pool
There is a $30,000 prize pool for this tournament and this is how it breaks down:
20:45: NightEnD tops Group 8, arguably the hardest group, with an amazing 3:0 win over PuMa! 20:30: In a long macro game, NightEnD took down PuMa with 4 base play. The third map is now LIVE and should NightEnD win, he will qualify for the next round! Go NightEnD! 20:12: NightEnD vs PuMa game #2 on Entombed Valley is now LIVE! 20:08: NightEnD won the first map with a great Blink Stalker play! Additional Colossi were melting down PuMa's bio units. NightEnD played it really safe, and won the game convincingly. Next game will begin shortly. 19:40: NightEnD will face PuMa soon in the next best of five match, and should he win, he will qualify to the next round. The match can be followed live at stream #1. 19:15: Early 3 Gate pressure brought another win to NightEnD and he is currently on top of the table. NightEnD took down SaSe's expansion and contained him in his base, while getting the expansion of his own. He was far ahead which forced SaSe to attack, but by the time he got to NightEnD's base, our player had too much for SaSe to handle. NightEnD's next match will be against either PuMa or Brat_OK. 19:00: With a briliant drop out of proxy Robotics Facility play, NightEnD took the third game and made the score 2:1! He needs one more win in order to claim the series, and the next map will be Daybreak, and is LIVE! 18:50: NightEnD is curently tied with SaSe, and the score is 1:1. The third game will commence in few minutes, and you can check it out at stream #3. 18:20: NightEnD will start his first game soon and it will be Protoss vs Protoss as his first opponent will be SaSe. 17:12: With 3:2 score against Seiplo, Naama qualified for the next group stage as the second in group 3! 16:55: It will all go down to one final map between Naama and Seiplo as Seiplo won the fourth map after defending against Naama's one base 1-1-1 all-in. Stay tuned as the ace match will begin in a matter of seconds. 16:43: Naama won against Seiplo and the score is 2:1 now. The fourth map is under way and it is Daybreak. 16:36: Naama is looking very good and is 1:1 against Seiplo. He needs two more maps in order to qualify from his group as second, and the third game is currently under way at Metropolis. 16:16: Harstem is out of the tournament as he lost against Protosser with 0:3. 16:10: Moon advances from group 2 as he just won against Bischu with 3:2. Meanwhile, sadly, Naama lost to TheStC with 1:3. 15:42: Game four was really fast, and Moon broke through Bischu's defenses with his Zerglings without speed, as Bischu went for a greedy build. Moon punished him with his early attack and tied the series to 2:2. Next and last map will be Cloud Kingdom. 15:35: The fourth game between Moon and Bischu at Metropolis is now LIVE! 15:33: Moon won against Bischu in game #3 so the score is 1:2 now. 15:30: Naama is currently one game ahead vs TheStC, but sadly the games aren't being streamed. 15:25: Third game between Moon and Bischu at Daybreak is LIVE! 15:20: Moon is now two games down after losing another map to Bischu. Bischu completely shut down Moon's drop tactic and went for a counter attack which was too much for Moon to handle. Next map will begin shortly. 15:05: Second game between Bischu and Moon is now LIVE! 15:00: After a close game Moon has lost the opening match against Bischu. The next map will start soon. 14:45: Moon vs Bischu on Atlantis Spaceship is now LIVE at stream #2. If Moon wins this match he will qualify for the next round of Assembly Summer 2012. 14:30: Naama showed his unpredictability once again and went for an early pressure with Marine drops, Banshee and Hellion harass, which led to HuK dropping in his probe count to only twenty. HuK desperately went for a push but Naama was ready for it and denied it fairly easy. Naama wins with the 3:2 score and will play against TheStc who won with 3:0 over Seiplo. 14:23: Naama vs HuK final game is now LIVE! 14:22: Moon won the final fifth game of the series against Welmu and therefore won with 3:2 score.
