Fatih 'gob b' Dayik from mousesports sits down with Fnatic.com.
The 23-year-old, who is mousesports' teamcaptain and in-game leader, agreed to do an interview after the GameGune 2010 event. Dayik talks about his team's recent 2nd place at Arbalet Cup Dallas and then discusses the reactions of the community, when mousesports was said to have been kicked out of the tournament after the second groupstage. Last but not least, he reviews the happenings at GameGune and talks about the possibility of stand-in Dominik 'd0m AZ' Wrabetz joining mousesports on a permanent basis in the future.
Please note that the interview was originally conducted in German and was later translated to English. The second picture was taken by Marc 'Nix0n' Winther and is courtesy of HLTV.org.
You placed second at Arbalet Cup Dallas after falling to Na'Vi in the Grand Final. How happy are you with this result?
I am quite satisfied, our recent results weren't that good and a second place feels nice then. Thanks to this, we got more teamspirit and played quite good, although we were a bit unlucky and lost in the end.
Especially on de_dust2 the match was really close. Did you make mistakes that resulted in the map loss? Or has Na'Vi simply been the luckier team on this map?
You could say that all in all, they were the luckier team and of corse there are one or two rounds I remember. Roman for example didn't manage to pick up a kill against starix on the B-Spot once, which he usually gets nine times out of ten. But things like this can happen, and it's not that bad, but i think peanuts like this decided the game eventually.
Are you the kind of player who is happy with a second place? Or are you one who is disappointed that it was not good enough for the first place?
Well, ahead of the tournament I would have said a second place is okay, but one could see that we can keep up with Na'Vi and therefore it's even more disappointing that we lost. But all in all, the result is pretty much okay.
Do you think mousesports is able to defeat Na'Vi in the near future?
I feel like we could beat them anytime, but by and large they are outclassing most teams currently. We will meet each other in Shanghai again and I'm in good spirits to attend with our regular lineup and mess with the best.

You are inspected very critically by the German community. Due to unclear rules, the community in Germany temporary thought you were kicked out of the tournament after the second groupstage - and comments took their course. Did you notice this in Dallas? How do you as a player react to something like this?
I read everything in my hotelroom and was a bit shocked. We knew the rules intimately, knew that only the rounds of the first three teams get counted in case of a three-way-tie. As we lost to EG by a small margin and won relatively high against iDemise, we had already definitely reached the playoffs, the question was just if first or second place.
And that readmore then writes something shows that they didn't have any clue what was going on. They didn't know the rules and then wrote something just to write anything. It shouldn't be like this, the rules of Arbalet Cups are known for a long time now. We already had a three-way-tie in Sweden and you can see that readmore just didn't have a clue.
You are often said to be arrogant, at least in Germany. The would-be drop out combined with five AWPs in your last groupstage match against Area51 gave your castigators a new subject matter. Do you feel that the community takes things like this too seriously and misinterprets things like funweapons? Are you getting flamed more being mousesports?
Difficult question, I suppose the community would flame other teams as well, but as gross as they flame us. When you have already won a match, you simply don't want to show any tactics. Also we didn't play with funweapons, well yeah, five AWPs - hmm, actually AWP is a funweapon for us (laughs). When we played iDemise, we knew that the rounds can be very important and won really high and played all rounds very focused. But when rounds are "unimportant", one can sometimes play with funweapons.
Let us talk about GameGune now. You dropped out of the tournament in the third round of the Lower Bracket after losing to k1ck. How happy are you with this result, also considering that you attended the event with two stand-ins?
Of corse I'm not satisfied. The match went really crap. It started and suddenly we were behind 8:0 and before we could come back somehow, we had already given up the first half 12:3.
But then we showed great teamspirit and got back into the game, despite the fact that we weren't a team on this note but just a mixteam. I think we should have practised like one, two days but all means to be able to beat teams that play quite good on certain maps, just like k1ck does on de_train. We are having problems on de_train anyway, so it was kinda unlucky we had to play them on de_train. With one, two days of training, we would have done better definitely.
If we had beaten k1ck, we would have to take on Na'Vi, and if we could have won against them, is hard to say (smiles). One, two days of training have definitely lacked us.

Only weeks ago you were complaining that the summer is full of events and the organizers should rather come to an agreement with each other regarding the times. Still, you attended GameGune with two stand-ins. Don't you think it would have been better to cancel the event?
At first we thought that only Manu (Tixo) could not come with us. Roman then could not take a holiday unfortunately, as he had already took several ones due to all the events. It was a bit unlucky for us, as everything had already been booked, so we played with two stand-ins.
The event is very nice anyway and it always makes fun to take it along. And it isn't that bad anyway, there was no way to practise during this time with almost every team being here. We couldn't have used the time otherwise, this way we had a nice weekend, sadly not so nice playing-wise, but it was fun here.
GameGune seems to be one of mousesports' favourite tournaments. Why is that?
Getting here is pleasurable, the event itself is very pleasurable. The time management of the event is very good and it's always fun to play on CRTs. The tournament itself is simply beautiful, you can undertake much when you aren't playing and you always have time to do something else - going bowling for instance, what we always enjoy doing, and therefore the event is always very nice.
You attended GameGune with d0m AZ as your second stand-in. Why did you decide to chose him as your fifth man?
We have known him for some time now, I played with him in the past and he is also a very cool guy. It's very fun with him, and he plays CS very good along the way.
We always thought that we had earned such a chance to play in a good team and personally I think he did a great job. You have to consider that we didn't even play together for one minute with this lineup and therefore he couldn't surpass himself, he just didn't know the tactics and everything passed off under difficult conditions. Despite all this, he played very well and we thought that he had earned such a chance.
Looking at his current standard of performance, is he an option for mousesports in the future, should a change in the lineup occur somehow?
He would probably be an option, but you have to observe his development first and I think that all the teams looking for a new player should definitely pick him up. He is a very very good player, very adaptive and also, what is very important, a teamplayer. Dom would sacrifice himself for the team, and that is very important. He is definitely an option.
