After a tough weekend here at i37, the Call of Duty 4 tournament is over. There have been some great games and some great moments, and now we are proud to say that fnaticMSI.CoD4 ARE THE I37 CHAMPIONS, beating TCM in the final. "Full Story" for the full match report.

After almost an hour delay, the CoD4 finals here at i37 got underway at around 16:00GMT. Germaine from TCM was having problems with his headset and of course in such a vital match, the players needed the perfect conditions.

To start off the game, TCM, who came from the lower bracket, choose District as their map. Not one of fnatics best, but not their worst either - the same for TCM. It created a mouth watering game, and boy it didnt disappoint.

The first three rounds went tit for tat, TCM got the first two, fnatic got one, TCM got another one, but then fnatic got three rounds on the trot, putting them ahead for the first time of the map. At 4-3, Stevy from fnatic pulled off two amazing sniper shots, but they werent enough to prevent TCM pulling level, and likewise in the next round, phantasy killed three but Stevy killed two and fnatic pulled through. Score: 5-4 in favour of fnatic. Again and again the sides traded rounds, with ReDeYe and Deman from the commentators booth constantly saying "anything one team does, the other does better" but when Deman said the game had been "absolutely fantastic" so far, he wasnt far off. Half time; 6-6.

Now on the stronger side of defense, fnatic steamed ahead in the first five rounds, linqan constantly getting the opening picks while only robyye showed any resistance for TCM. Linqan even replicated the famed Kyochi stalk from TeX as he got a knife on Twist. 10-7.

With the game seemingly slipping away from them, TCM finally picked it up again, with it being their turn to take three rounds in a row, seemingly galvanized by their knifing embarrassment. Even another stevy three man couldnt prevent TCM from leveling things up. 10-10.

Once again it was fnatic's turn to show some skill in this amazing game of twists and turns. Odyx pulled off a nice threeman to claim the teams first round in three and stevy followed suit to make it 12-10 fnatic, giving our Swedes 2 match points. The CoD4 on show really was entertaining and again TCM dragged themselves out of the duldrums, winning a 2 on 4 to level it up. The teams headed to overtime.

Tit for tat, tat for tit as TCM take the first OT round and fnatic take the second with a sublime 4 man AK fragfest from sniper Stevy but then twist impressed in the next round. Making it 2-1 in the first half of overtime. The teams were so evenly the matched, and fnatic proved just that by taking the second half of O.T 2-1. Into double overtime we go. Now, for the first time in a while, TCM pulled out ahead with a perfect defensive side and some amazing play from Phantasy, putting the pressure on fnatic to replicate that feat. The swedes started brightly, with Stevy once again pulling off an amazing shot and it looked like we would be going to triple overtime. But in the last round, TCM showed they had what it takes to be champions, taking District 19-17.

If the first map was tightly contested, Strike was anything but. Ever since the release of CoD4, Strike has been the bane of fnatic, but no longer as the team currently seem unstoppable on the map. Despite TCM's attempts to anti-strat the Swedish paintrain (they had two sheets full of fnatic's strike tactics from demos), the marauding Swedes were unstoppable at times in what will go down as one of the greatest performances in CoD4's short but sweet history.

Coming back from a draining and tiring defeat which would destroy most sides on District, fnatic were calm, cool and collected during their break, joking with eachother, rather than worrying about TCMs tactics. The side were unbelievably confident and they showed why, storming ahead to a 10-0 lead without TCM reply.

In the fourth round Stevy pulled off two sick snipershots, and after it being 5-0, TCM's captain Vasquez had had enough, their new tactics werent working, time to make even newer ones. Calling a timeout TCM again attempted to anti-strat and stop fnatic planting A, the Swedes had a simple answer. They planted B. Again and again fnatic took round after round, with every player pulling out amazing frags. Stevy also showed off some new tricks which is odd considering CoD4 is near the end of its lifespan, he managed to nade the A bombsite from the back of Cafe, rounding it off with another great sniper shot.

Often it was Robyye who was last left for TCM and their star dutch sniper had the chance to stop the rot in the 10th round, but his three, clear, missed sniper shots summed up TCM's defense. In the words of ReDeYe "facepalm".

On the verge of a whitewash, the Brits finally picked up their game, taking the final two rounds of the half to make it 10-2.

But much like their attack, fnatic came out all guns blazing, quickly going ahead 12-2 with 10 match points. TCM quickly made it 12-3 but any resistance was futile as fnatic took the next making it 13-3 and crowing them the i37 champions. If there was ever a time to use the phrase 'a game of two halves' it was this match, the first map was tightly contested and one of the best games of CoD4 in its lifespan, whereas in the second fnatic reigned supreme in an assured, proffesional and ultimately unstoppable performance.
