The Heaven Media Awards 2009 have come to a close, all votes have been collected and FnaticMSI haven taken home three of the top awards for 2009! Check inside for more details.
Thousands of eSports and gaming enthusiasts voted across a multitude of categories, from Moviemaker of the Year to Call of Duty team of the year. FnaticMSI is happy to announce that our teams and players have taken three of the biggest awards. Below is a round up of the awards our boys have won after a great year for FnaticMSI.
Counterstrike Team of the Year
After a great year for our boys it seemed inevitable that they would take home the award for best Counterstrike team of the year. Often struggling in the group stages of events they always pulled through and won the majority of events this year and also took home their first ever win in China at the World eSports Masters in Chengdu.
The award is based on the overall performance of teams throughout the whole of the Counterstrike calendar and who the spectators and fans believe to have performed the best overall throughout the year.
Quote from Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund;
"So after seeing that we won the Team of the Year 2009 in Heaven Media Awards, I just want to say it feels really good that we won that. Mostly beacuse I feel that we really were the team of that year. Just let's see if we can keep this going and be even better in 2010. Thanks to all the people who voted for us."

Call of Duty 4 Team of the Year
Again, another award that many people may not be surprised to see FnaticMSI winning, Call of Duty 4 Team of the Year. After a fairly quiet start to the year our Call of Duty 4 team really began to dominate come summertime after losing the final of OutPost on Fire 3 against Dignitas, our team bounced back from the defeat with dominating performances to win TeX, i37, and Dreamhack winter in 2009.
This award contains the best teams of the year as chosen by expert panelists. The teams are then whittled down to just 8 and voted for by the Cadred.org community to find the winner.
Quote from Marcus "odyx" Nilsson;
"After losing tidde in the early 2009 we had 2 choices. Give up or look for a new player. We needed someone that we knew would fill his shoes perfectly. But we found something better! We found Stevy. Besides his awesome sniperskills he brought new motivation to the team. I also think the biggest reason to all our wins was because the team's personalities just clicked. We always had fun playing and always had fun outside the game. Anyway, winning this award feels great and hopefully 2010 will be just as successful for us. I'd like to thank MSI, Steelseries, BigFoot Networks, UGame and the fnatic management for making all of this possible."

Call of Duty Player of the Year
The award for Call of Duty player went to our very own Stevy "stevy" Verheyen. The Belgian superstar has really stepped into his role as a world class player after joining the FnaticMSI fold after playing in teams such as TCM and Tek9. Under the FnaticMSI banner he has really became one of the the best snipers in the scene at the moment and has helped his team to dominate the 2009 Call of Duty 4 calendar.
This award takes the same format as the Call of Duty team of the year. Expert panelists chose a group of the best players of the year and whittled them down to 8 to be voted upon by the TEK9 community to find the winner.
Quote from Stevy "stevy" Verheyen;
