Today we are able to announce that the proposed game between the FnaticMSI CS1.6 team and the Reason Gaming CS:S team will be taking place, on Sunday 21st March at 20:00 CET. The game for this great encounter, CSPromod, and it will be brought to you live through QuadV.

This match-up was first proposed on Cadred.org, where they set the two teams up against each other and asked the teams to take part in the battle. Today we are able to announce that this match will take place. The FnaticMSI CS1.6 squad will lineup against the Reason Gaming CS:S squad and fight it out in a Best of 3 battle, on CSPromod.

The match between the runners up of the ESL Extreme Masters World Championship Finals and the current number 1 team in CS:S, will be with the aim to see if CSPromod can be used as a competitive game. Currently still in the beta stages, there has been a lot of talk about whether CSPromod will become a competitive game, and if it does, will it encompass both communities or just one of them? What better way to see this, than to put the best of each community up against each other.

The match, organised by the Cadred management team, will be played for fun and both teams enter the game with that frame of mind, but it will also be a good barometer for just what will happen with CSPromod as a competitive title.

The game will be brought to you by QuadV.com, providing a full video broadcast of the game, with TosspoT taking the reins. All of the developers at cspromod.com will be tuning in to see how the game plays competitively and to listen to any feedback - from both players and spectators alike. the match is to ensure v1.05 of the beta gets it absolutely right.

"We are really looking forward to be a part of the first streamed CSP match” commented FnaticMSI’s 1.6 squad
leader, Patrik 'cArn' Sattermon
. “It’s going to be a battle between two giants from two different games. At this stage we don’t know if CSP going to be the title which unites 1.6 and Source but this match will hopefully put the spotlight on Promod which has been evolving loads of late. Make sure you tune in on QuadV and may the best team win!"

His opposite man at Reason Gaming, Marek ‘.PhP’ Kádek also commented on the game: “We are looking forward to play mighty fnatic in game which probably favours them little bit by having 1.6 recoil and maps, but I hope we can give them a fight and keep the game exciting.”

“The CSP match against Fnatic should be interesting for both 1.6 and CSS fans alike. From what I have seen and heard the game is very similar to 1.6 so although it won't answer the "which game is more skilled" debate it will give the fans a chance to see the top players in each game face off against each other in a fun environment, so hopefully we will see some good frags!” commented the Reason Gaming manager, Ben ‘Dallow’ Dalloway. “For our guys it is an honour for them to face off against the worlds #1 1.6 team, and we hope this exhibition match helps with the future development of the game, as uniting both communities would be awesome.”

Neil 'kboy' Kirk added to Ben’s excitement for the game. “Alex and the team have been working really hard on the CSPromod in a hope of removing and reducing barriers between CounterStrike 1.6 and CounterStrike Source.  To highlight this and also give the community a feel for how this may potentially work in the future the two greatest teams in their respective areas are going to battle it out in the first match of its kind streamed on QuadV. FnaticMSI are really looking forward to be a part of this against the much respected Reason-Gaming side.  It should be very interesting and fun for the players and indeed viewers, a match that the community always discuss about - now it really happens.”
Finally, Alex Garfield, one of the main characters in the making of CS Promod was also happy to have this match going on. "We're very excited that such high-profile teams, media, and broadcasters have come together to make this match happen.  The 1.6/Source debate has been one of the Counter-Strike community's most intense dialogues over the past several years, and thus we expect this match-up to draw passionate interest from players in both camps," said Alexander Garfield, Project Director for CSPromod.  "Furthermore, we hope that the execution of a successful exhibition match between two of the world's best Counter-Strike teams illustrates to the community how close CSPromod really is to being competitively a viable game."

Make sure you tune in to QuadV.com for live coverage of the game, this Sunday at 20:00CET. We would like to thank everyone involved in making this game a reality and not just a pipe dream, including the team at CSP, FnaticMSI management and players, Reason management and players, QuadV and those at Heaven Media.

There will be a special match report on Cadred.org right after the game should you miss it and QuadV will add the game to their on demand section in due course.
