As you know, this year Russia is represented by 3 wc3 players at WCG 2008. One of them is
nWo.Sting, who currently is the best Russian Orc. Have a nice time reading this interview.
Hi! Introduce yourself.
Hi! My name is Yuri Sheremetov, I am 19, I live in the city of Sochi, Russia.
When did you start playing Warcraft? Why not CS, or Quake?
My first games were 4 years ago. I didn’t play quake professionally, because I didn’t realize it was a e-sport discipline, and played just for fun. And I don’t play CS, because I hate playing in a team. I like to depend on my own.
How long do you plan to play as a professional?
I don’t know. As long as there is fun, all those people and trips to WCG, I suppose :)
Not long ago you’ve won WCG grand final quota by beating
Happy. Did you train hard against the undead, or that was sheer luck?
I wasn’t prepared for the undead at all, but I knew Happy’s style and knew how to play against him, so it was just a matter of micro and timing.
So the fact that orc has an advantage over the undead didn’t matter?
I think that Happy’d win if he was a human. There’s a small misbalance.
What did you feel after the game with Nicker, when the grand final ticket was already yours? Many players dream of it.
There was a relief, and I was satisfied with my 3rd place :)
How do your parents and friends react on your e-sport hobby? Do you have their support before the big battles?
My friends always support me, and some even want to start a e-sport career, too. But my relatives are not likely to approve it :)
Are they against it?
They are neutral. If I need help, they’ll help me. That’s all.
What are your plans for WCG at Celn? What is your must-do for that event?
I must get an international passport first. There seems to be no problem with that so far. My plans are to get at least 8th place. Top 3 would be just wonderful.
Are you a patriot of your country? Are you proud of representing Russia at the grand final?
My dream is to wear a t-shirt with “Russia” sign on it! Of course I’m proud :)
Have you made friends during your warcraft gaming career? Whom do you communicate with?
Yeah, I have many friends, mostly from my region. dmZ.Multick from Sochi, dmZ.Federal from Krasnodar. We have perfect relations in our team, too.
Do you have any problems with the network? I remember you complaining about your Internet provider :)
It’s all playable now, the battle.net ping is 70-90, Russian hosts give 100, European make 130-150, I think that’s rather good.
Do you have motivation problems? Have you ever wanted to forfeit all those games?
No, I have my goals and I will reach them even without any motivations..
And what are those goals?
To be one of the best players in the world :)
Tell us about your team, what are the plans for this season?
The only plan is to stay in WC3L.
What is the atmosphere inside the team?
Not 100% friendly, but close to that. Ghosta and FastCLick were not in a very good mood, for example. But that was the only time..
What do you think about SC2? Do you plan to play it?
I don’t know. We’ll see after it appears. Currently I don’t have any plans about it.
What is your meaning about e-sport in Russia? Is it popular and advanced?
Not China, of course, but it is well developed and it continues to grow. You can just compare the money prizes on the last year’s wcg and the current ones.
Why do you think China’s e-sport is so developed? I think we could provide all necessary conditions here.
China’s just a well developed country, and its e-sport are just as well.
Do you have any hobbies except of Warcraft?
There are some things, but that’s not hobbies at all.
What is your favourite music style?
I listen to rock and metal, but other styles are also fine. I’m a music lover :)
Do you play DotA?
I’ve played about 50 battles, and then became bored.
What will be your future profession? Would you like to have a job associated with cybersports?
Time will show.
Do you remember the first tournament you participated in?
Yeap, it was in Sochi, and I’ve even won $ 32 )))))))
Would you agree to move to China or Korea for trainings?
I would consider that decision carefully, because I have many friends and relatives here in Russia. I wouldn’t like to move far away from them, but in the other side my skills need to be raised…
Do you have a girlfriend?
Humm… When I was in Moscow at the WCG, I met a wonderful girl. She plays WC, too. But she’s in Moscow, and I’m in Sochi..
I hope you’ll get together ;) Do you have your warcraft idol?
Nope. There was a time when I was Grubby’s fan.
And why aren’t you now?
An idol whom I can defeat isn’t an idol to me!
Your top-3 for WCG2008?
Who, Moon, and Sting of course )))))))
Thanks for the interview. Wanna say something to your fans?
Thank you guys for your support, I will do my best to please you with my new victories.
Hope your next interview will be as a WCG2008 winner’s one :)
Hope so too ))
