October 10th and 11th played host to Blizzard Entertainment's largest event of the year, Blizzcon 2008.

Blizzcon 2008 provided Blizzard a chance to reveal news regarding their games that are currently under development. Developers revealed a plethora of information regarding Blizzard's upcoming games: Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.

The event also played host to several tournaments. Players were provided an opportunity to battle it out over three different games: Starcraft, Warcraft 3, and World of Warcraft. Blizzcon 2008 saw fnatic place third in the World of Warcraft tournament.

More information regarding the tournament section of the event can be found here. Blizzard has also provided videos from a few of the games as well as photos from the event.

Diablo 3

Developers at the event released information regarding the third class in their upcoming game, Diablo 3. The Wizard has been revealed and the class carries an uncanny resemblance to the old Sorceress class from previous Diablo installments. The archetype's current arsenal includes these spells: Teleport, Disintegrate, Electrocute, Slow Time, and Magic Missile.

New information regarding game design, mechanics, and gameplay were announced as well. One feature making its way into Diablo 3 is character customization. The earlier releases of the Diablo franchise didn't allow for customization of any sort, so this news should prove to be exciting for any Diablo fans. More information can be found at the official Diablo 3 website.

Starcraft 2

The most considerable announcement regarding Blizzard's upcoming RTS game is that the game will be released in three separate installments. The complete multiplayer experience will be provided through the original release of the game. The next two installments are going to be treated as expansions and will introduce more depth to the storyline, as well as new units for all of the races.

Blizzard also provided some new gameplay footage at the event, as well as an exhibition match between the Korean Starcraft player, Yellow, and the American Warcraft 3 player, Sonkie. The match ended in Yellow's favor with a score of 2-0. Yellow played Protoss for the match and Sonkie decided to play as Zerg. More information regarding the game can be found at the Starcraft 2 official website.

Stalkers seem to be a really good unit for toss and psi storm is just as powerful as ever. Colossus seem pretty awful though :/.
