CWL Global Pro League: CoD Heads to Columbus

Qualifying for the world’s first Global Pro League was a massive goal when FNATIC came back to Call of Duty, so we’re stoked to be duking it out stateside this weekend in the tournament group stage! Skrapz, Wuskin, SunnyB and Tommey touched down in Columbus yesterday afternoon ready for their Friday night clash with FaZe Clan, with big battles against EG and Rise Nation to follow later on.

No doubt, Blue was definitely one of the tougher groups to come into. Three big name NA talents, established teams who between them have five CWL podiums in the last 12 months, now stand in our way of playoffs. But the boys are confident.

We’re peaking at just the right time, comfortably qualifying for the Pro League and snatching a 3rd place finish close to home at CWL Birmingham. Right now our communication and in-game understanding is on point, so we’ve got more than just a chance of taking down our American counterparts.

The biggest threat to us is probably in our first matchup. The last time we faced FaZe, we were the one’s to come off worse in Dallas, our opponents taking the group stage match 3-1. That one stuck in memory, and while FaZe Clan were able to take a third place finish in the CWL, we’ll be out for blood when we face off later tonight.

We make it through the groups - what happens next? The team will head back home for almost a month, resting, recuperating but most importantly readying themselves for the double elimination playoffs to come at the end of May. They’ve got every reason to want to make it that far as well. A big fat prize pool of $700,000 is one dangling carrot to perform, but also the prestige. The winners of the Global Pro League will be CWL’s first world champions.

We kick off the action tonight, 10pm CET, so make sure you tune in and send all the support you can!
